Alvin Glen Horton, 85, of Corunna, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Pleasant View in Corunna. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 3pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 10am-12pm and from 2-6pm. Private family burial will take place in Pine Tree Cemetery, Corunna.
Alvin was born on September 17, 1932 in Chesaning, Michigan to the late Glen and Violet (Runyan) Horton. On December 3, 1982 he married Judith Sleeseman in Corunna. Alvin spent his life paving many roads throughout the state as an asphalt worker. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fixing things, and anything that he could do with his backhoe. He always had a big garden and enjoyed having a green thumb.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy, his children; Robin Bowles, Gary (Julie) Horton, Jim (Sue) Horton, Lisa (Don) Graham, Lorri Blanton, and Sherry (Pat) Rennie. His step-son; Edward (Paul Duckworth) Sleeseman, 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his brother, Cloyse (Marge) Horton and daughter in-law, Robin Sleeseman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Shelly, siblings; Laurabelle, Junemarie, Harland, and Paul, also his step-son, James Sleeseman.
The family requests that no flowers be sent to the funeral home, and that you consider contributions to McCurdy Park, the American Cancer Society or the Corunna Historical Village of Shiawassee County.
