Mary was born in Flint, MI on February 27, 1962, daughter of the late Jesse Duane and Clara Pauline (Hamlin) Selleck. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School and graduated from Kearsley High School in 1980. Mary had a successful career as a pharmacy technician, working at several respected institutions including the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI, and the Nevada Cancer Institute in Las Vegas, NV. Her compassion, sharp memory, attention to detail and sense of humor were valuable to the teams she worked in. Teaching was a skill that came naturally to her, so she finished her career as a pharmacy tech professor and enjoyed preparing the next generation for their future career and next phase of life. Despite spending years living in Florida and Nevada, Mary remained a loyal and enthusiastic fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Michigan Wolverines. Mary was a friend and “Aunt Mary” to many. Her spirit was magnetic to children, drawn to both her caring personality and mischievous nature. She taught them, and countless friends, over the course of her lifetime many valuable lessons. She showed us how to be kind, live with integrity, work hard, have grit, stand up for yourself, and stand up for others. Also, how to have fun, be spontaneous, completely rock out, take a proper adventure, and tell a great joke. Mostly, she taught us how to show up and how to be a friend. She was full of life and showed the rest of us how to live one by being authentically herself.
Mary is survived by her brother, William Selleck. She will be fiercely missed and lovingly remembered by a broad network of chosen families and close friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Clara Selleck.
