CROTHERS, Jerry Lee – of Flint, MI, age 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Regency of Grand Blanc. Cremation has already taken place. A Memorial Service will be 11 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1084 N. Irish Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service and following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church in Jerry’s name.
Jerry was born in Flint, MI on September 22, 1938, son of the late Clark and Jenny (Holbeck) Crothers. He married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Vannest in 1958. Together they had two children, David (Ida Jones) Crothers, who died April 20, 2018, and Susan (Douglas) O’Brien. Jerry lived most of his life in Davison and Flint. Professionally, he served as manager of a Flint grocery store. With Eleanor, he was an active member of the Davison Free Methodist Church, and subsequently at Calvary Presbyterian Church and Grace Presbyterian Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Susan (Douglas) O’Brien; grandchildren, Brent (Dana) O’Brien, Moriah O’Brien, Danielle (Steven) Crothers, Jeromy Jones; great-grandchildren, Serenity Solis, Jayson Jones, Alayna Jones, Ezekiel O’Brien; siblings, William (Rilla Vannest) Crothers, Linda (Gary) Kelly, many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Genevieve Crothers, and son, David Crothers.
