VINTON, John O. “Jack” – Of Swartz Creek, age 83, died Monday, May 14, 2012, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, son, Michael officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice Advantage.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Jack was born in Flint, Michigan on December 6, 1928, the son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Vinton. He married Marjorie Hopkins on August 13, 1949, in Swartz Creek. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. He was a member of the Swartz Creek Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and served as Elder for several years at the Bristol Road Church of Christ. He was a very kind and gentle man, a good husband, father and grandfather. Jack loved mission work, camping with friends and spending the winters in Florida. After more than 30 years, he retired from Buick in 1985, as a patternmaker. Surviving are wife, Marjorie; son, Jeffrey of New Jersey; daughter, Karen (Paul) Arnell of Flushing, son, Michael of Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Katie, Corinne, Ryan, Bethany, Jacob, Cody, Zack and Hunter; one great-granddaughter, Kassidy; 4 sisters; 4 brothers and their mates, all of Michigan; several nieces and nephews.
