Marcile L. LaSalle
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marcile L. LaSalle, age 81. She passed away on December 17, 2024, at Hyde Park Memory Care in Flushing, MI. A celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 Elms Rd., Flushing, MI 48433. Fr. James Batcha officiating.
She was most known as Marcy. Born on December 4, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona, Marcy moved with her adoptive family to Montana and then Everett, Washington, where she went to school and graduated from Everett High School. After attending college in the State of Washington and earning her teaching certification she moved to Michigan to begin her teaching career at the Detroit Public School System. It was during this time that Marcy met the love of her life Charles LaSalle. They married on September 3, 1974, in the chapel at Greenfield Village. Chuck preceded her in death on March 13, 2020.
Marcy continued her educational studies at Wayne State University. Where she earned her master’s degree and MI Teacher Certification. She went on to sell textbooks and computer curricula software packages throughout the State of Michigan before ending her educational career in teaching and administration at the Beecher School District, retiring in 2006.
Queen Marcy was a guiding light within the Red Hat Society. Named Hatter of the Year in 2018, she truly exemplified the Red Hat Society’s Mission of friendship, fun, and sisterhood. Her vibrant spirit, generous heart and unwavering dedication has left an indelible mark on the Society. As Queen of one of the first chapters in the United States, she led the chapter known as the Fun-Key Red Hatters in Flint. She would go on to be known most famously as “Queen Bee” of the Movers and Shakers Chapter – a collection of over 59 chapters across Michigan, the USA and Ontario, Canada. Marcy inspired generations of Red Hatters. She was one of only two members to attend every international convention hosted by Hatquarters, where her “mad seating skills” and joyful presence became legendary. Her legacy lives on in every queen she encouraged, every chapter she helped create (including a couple more of her own), and every member she uplifted along the way.
Marcy was an active and proud member of the Clan Donald Association as her husband was one of the leaders of this Scottish Association both in Michigan and at the National Level. Marcy loved to talk about their trip to Scotland and the history of Chuck’s family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marcy’s memory to St Michael Byzantine Church, 2333 Elms Rd., Flushing, MI 48433 or St. Michael Senior Center.
