Allan James Gearhart of Millington, MI age 64 died Friday May 18, 2018 at his residence. Allan was born September 26, 1953. Son of Jack and Olive (Goulding) Gearhart, Allan was in the navy and successfully completed two tours during Vietnam from 1972 – 1978. He was a retired truck driver, and a former blackbelt karate instructor. He also owned and instructed at his own martial arts studio. Allan was an avid hunter and fisherman and shared a deep love for the outdoors. Allan loved writing and would write short stories as well as many books in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Warren Gearhart.
Left to cherish his memory is his best friend Sandra Gearhart, and their two children Nathan and Ashley Gearhart, mother Mrs. Olive Gearhart, his brothers and sister Lynne Gearhart and friend Ruth Christian, and brothers Craig (Julie) Gearhart, and Bradley Gearhart, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The Gearhart family has honored Allan’s request and cremation has take place. His ashes will be scattered at the Sunset Hills Cemetery Scattering Garden on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at 11:00 am. A celebration of Allan’s life will take place at the Millington Church of God [Barnes Rd.] also on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm, followed by a dinner and fellowship. Pastor Greg Capsel will deliver the message and prayers at the celebration of Allan’s life. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the family. The Gearhart family would like to extend a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice Services and Allan’s nurse Eric Schambeck.
