VREDEVOOGD, Barbara Ellen -- Age 82, of Flint, died October 2, 2014 at Hilltop Manor in Roscommon.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, October 6 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor David Collins officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation 12-2 PM Monday.
Barbara was born September 2, 1932 in Flint the daughter of Clarence and E. Eleanor (Smith ) Vredevoogd. She was a 1950 graduate of Mary Crapo High School and was a lifetime resident of the Flint area. She worked as a legal secretary for 32 years retiring in 2009. She was a past member of Jobs Daughters. She enjoyed her professional singing career performing under her stage name Barbara Blain, with her own bands, Barbie and the Soft Notes, and then Nice and Easy .
Surviving are: children, Linda (Steven) Pyke of Gaylord, Steven (Sharon) Violette of Burton, Annette (Douglas) Chapman of Fenton; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Candy of Swartz Creek; brothers, Jim (Jeanette) Vredevoogd of Dunellon FL, Bill (Pamela) Vredevoogd of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews; faithful companion of 20 years, Harry Simons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter Tammy Violette.
