UHLMEYER, Patrick Michael – of Flint, age 78, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Friday, there will be visitation at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Thursday. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. John’s Music Ministry.
Patrick was born in Flint, MI on February 4, 1935, son of the late Joe and Nancy (Murphy) Uhlmeyer. He married Ellen Anderson on July 6, 1957 in Flint at St. Luke Catholic Church. Patrick worked at General Motors in Experimental Product Engineering for 45 years retiring in 2000. He was a Veteran serving with the US Army. Patrick loved bow hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and outdoor sports. He developed Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 38,but continued to work up until he was 65. One of Pat's biggest accomplishments was building the house, where he raised his entire family of six, from the ground floor up. Pat's "no quit" mentality was a quality unmatched by many, and has been an inspiration to us all.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughters, Elaine (Brian) Green, Laura Serra, Martha Hoyle; sons, Roy (Stephanie) Uhlmeyer, Daniel (Angela) Uhlmeyer; grandchildren, Janet (Alex) Cerveniak, Jamie (Matt) Radebach, Steven Green, Michelle, Christina, David and Patrick Serra, David, Daniel, Michael and Matthew Hoyle, Drew and Carly Uhlmeyer, Will and Emma Uhlmeyer, Victoria Huber, Kacie Kefgen; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Coleman, Paige, Marissa, Hunter and Desiree; brother, John Uhlmeyer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David Uhlmeyer; son-in-law, Michael Serra; brothers, Louis, James and Jerry Uhlmeyer; sisters, Catherine, Rita, Mary and Margaret. The family would like to say a special thank you to Genesys Hospital and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care given to Patrick.
