Raymond Joseph “Joe” Card, age 83, of Lapeer died April 6, 2016 at McLaren-Lapeer Region.
Joe was born June 19, 1932 in Toluca, Virginia, the son of the late Glenn and Lillian (Mitchell) Card. Joe served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, and later married Betty Hamaker on May 12, 1956. Joe was a member of the Columbiaville United Methodist, where he helped with the monthly dinners. He also volunteered at the soup kitchen for Grace Episcopal Church. Joe retired from AC Spark plug in 1980 after 30 years and was part of the NCHA, FCE, and past Scout Leader. He also worked at the Genesee County Fairground over the years as security and maintenance. Joe loved wood working, drawing, camping, fishing, the outdoors, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his children: Ben (Karen) Card, Jenny (Steve) Griggs, Dan (Sue) Card, Joel (Denise Paglia) Card, Missie (David) Taylor, Sara (Rob) Hensel, siblings: Barbara Smith, Rita Young, Bernadette Summers, Bernadine Stacy, and sister in-law Barbara Hamaker.
He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings: Glenn, Ruth, and Kay.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from the Columbiaville United Methodist Church, where friends may visit 10:00 Am till time of service. Pastor Esther Irish officiating.
