JAKSA, Dona Mae - age 92, of Swartz Creek, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, August 7, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-4 and 5-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Dona was born January 13, 1925, the third child of ten children born to Glenn and Bertha (Thorpe) Smalley of Shepherd, MI. Dona is survived by: her sons, Bruce Jaksa (Nancy Mollhagen) of Mattawan, Terry Jaksa (Tammy Robins) of Flint and daughter, Cynthia Irwin (Troy Lovik) of Flint; ten grandchildren, Mark (Julie) Teusink, Frank (Brooke) Jaksa, Max Jaksa (Michaelene Zawacki), Ashley Jaksa (Elizabeth Jiggins), Jo (Eric) Noseda, Nick Jaksa, Justin (Madison) Irwin, Tyler Jaksa, Heather Irwin, Zackery Jaksa; seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Ellie and Olivia Teusink, Riley Jaksa, Millie and Mae Zawacki Jaksa, Iris Noseda; brothers, Duane (Bobbi) Smalley and Clarence (Theo) Smalley; sisters, Anna Belle (Raymond) Recker and Mary Alice (Dale) Todd. Dona was preceded in death by her husband, Frank John Jaksa in 1976; son, Alan Wayne Jaksa in 2004; and daughter, Diana Kay Jaksa in 2010; brothers, Milan, Dale, Earl, John and Harold Smalley. Dona moved to Flint after graduating from Shepherd High School in 1944 to work for AC Spark Plug. She married Frank John Jaksa on June 5, 1948. After her husband Frank's death in 1976, she worked for McLaren Hospital, retiring in 1985. She resided at Swank Family Home Assisted Living since November 2015. She passed away peacefully. She was loved and respected by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Swank Family Home Assisted Living. The owners and staff have made a wonderful final home for our mother and we would like the contributions to be used for activities and events for the residents.
