Sadie Adams Green, 82 years old, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Springvale Assisted Living Facility.
She was born in Flint, MI, on January 11, 1942, to Eleanor (Cludy) and Gerald Adams. She graduated from Adelphian Academy in 1960. Sadie worked at McLaren Hospital in patient registration until retirement. While there, she met Richard Green and married on October 23, 1970. Sadie was dedicated to her church, First Flint Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and was famous for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and the most amazing Nana imaginable. She will be missed for her non-stop love, smell of Wind Song and limitless supply of lime jello. Her children will miss her daily talks about life and what the grandkids were doing, her annual holiday bulbs, shopping excursions to Pride and Country and Bronners, her need to be the ‘bag lady’ making sure to reuse gift bags year after year and her goodbye hug and I love you. Her grandchildren will miss her cuddles, the trips to the Roller Haven, Chuck E. Cheese, putt putt, Cops and Robbers for ice cream or birthday dinner at Red Robin. She would let them win in Go Fish, Old Maid, matching, Candy Land Dora and finally Skip Bo, as they grew older. She always made sure she was not distracted when they came to visit. She wanted the time to matter. They enjoyed taking goofy pictures with her on her iPad. She was willing to do anything for her family. She loved her cat, Sammie. Her commitment to Christian education was evident by one of her favorite verses Joshua 24:15 “…But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” She held her friends close to her heart. When life came with struggles, she would rely on her favorite verse, Philippines 4:13 “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.”
She is survived by her children, Sharie (John) Dengler of Johnson City, TN, Laura (Marty) Richard of Flushing, MI, and Gregory (Heather) Green of Bloomfield Hills, MI; her grandchildren, Erica (Brandon) Evans, Emily (Eric) Sturkie, Elyse (Kenneth Liu) Dengler, Riley (Morgan) Richard, Jackson Richard, Jennifer Green, Elizabeth Green, Stephen Green, Abigail Green, Zachary Green; her great grandchildren, Magnolia Evans, Ethan Sturkie and Claire Sturkie; her sister, Sally (Keith) McKenzie of Flushing, MI; sister-in-law, Suzanne Green of Grand Rapids, MI; along with nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Green; brother-in-law, William Green; and nephew, Jeffrey McKenzie.
A celebration of Sadie’s life will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 4:00pm. Visitation will occur from 1:00pm until the time of the service at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 E. Main St., Flushing, MI 48433. Private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Rossell Funeral Home.
