Whaley, Catherine E. – of Clio, age 92, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, in memory of Catherine, at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Saints Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Ken Coughlin officiating. Burial in West Vienna Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Tuesday from 1-4 and 5-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of mass. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice.
Catherine was born October 6, 1923, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late James and Julia (Gibney) Conley. She was raised in New Lothrop and had resided in Clio since 1951. She married Zachariah E. Whaley on October 6, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2001. Catherine graduated from Mercy College in Detroit as a Registered Nurse. She was employed at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw and the former Clio Nursing Home. Catherine was also a member of Saints Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio. She was also a founding member of the Clio Country Club and was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
Surviving are: Children: Ann Whaley of Clio, Zach (Kimberly) Whaley of Clio and Mary Whaley (Rick Kroeger) of Flint; Grandchildren: Kyle Jones, Lucas Kroeger, and Jessica Kroeger; Step-grandchildren: Eric and Christi Clemens; Great-grandchildren: Penelope and Iris Kroeger Lenox Sister, Mary Ulrich; Catherine was also preceded in death by her sons: Thomas and Daniel and her brother, William Conley. Catherine will also be sadly missed by her good friend, Liz Martinus; caregiver, Pat Shears and several nieces and nephews.
