MENOUTES, Kathryn G. -Of Flint, a woman with impeccable taste and a remarkable gift for friendship, died peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the age of 86.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc, Father Angelo Maggos and Father Mark Sietsema co-officiating.

Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery

Those desiring may make contributions to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Mortgage Fund or Flint’s Institute of Art and Music.

Visitation 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc.

A Trisagion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.

Kathryn was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 31, 1930, the daughter of George and Susane (Karopoulos) Rorres.

She graduated from Saint Mary Girls Academy High School in 1947. She belonged to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.

On October 23, 1955 she married George Menoutes in South Bend, Indiana.
She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and “Best Friend.”

Kathryn was and always will be an inspiration to everyone she touched. She possessed a contagious enthusiasm for her family, faith and friends throughout her life. She was blessed with a great sense of humor, while not always intentional.

She will be remembered by her family and friends for her boundless energy, flavor for the arts and her devotion to playing Bridge three times a week with her life-long friends.

Kathryn was an avid sportswoman and traveler. She enjoyed following golf, tennis, MSU sports, the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers.

Kathryn found pleasure in actively participating in her church, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, The Flint Institute of Art, Art Class, Flint Golf Club and most of all her family.

She was a member of Philoptochos, Flint Golf Club, and the Daughters of Penelope. She was also a member of the Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday Bridge Group at Flint Golf Club.

YiaYia, as she was affectionately called by most of her family, leaves behind: her loving husband of 61 years, George;

daughter, Alexis and husband Dennis Branoff of East Lansing,
Susan and husband Jimmie Setas of East Lansing and
James Menoutes of Birmingham, MI;

six grandchildren, Andrew and wife Andrea Branoff,
Jonathan and wife Ashley Branoff,
Nicholas Branoff,
Benjamin Setas,
Adam and wife Kristen Setas and Jacqueline Setas;

five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Catherine, Vivienne and Leo.
brother, Nick and wife Rose Rorres of Granger, IN;
sister, Evelyn and husband Tom Belanger of South Bend, Indiana;

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Susane Rorres; brother, Peter Rorres of South Bend, IN.

The family would like to recognize her extraordinary team of physicians for their special care and attention; Dr. Michael Andary, Dr. Michael Hourani, Dr. Mark Jones and Dr. Carol Rapson.
