Harold “Jack” Neeley, age 69 of Lennon, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. He was born on September 1, 1949 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to parents Harold E. and Frances M. (Ramsli) Neeley. Jack was a proud Vietnam veteran having served with the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1969. After discharge from the Marines he went on a seven year journey hitchhiking throughout the United States. He moved to Michigan where he met the love of his life, Gloria, and they were married on September 20, 1980. From 1988-1990 Jack attended Aviation School and studied to be a plane mechanic. He obtained an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and graduated summa cum lade at 40 years old. He later settled into a career with General Motors, retiring in 2008. Jack is a published author; his book The Petrified Mind is a collection of poetry dealing with the realities and mental scars of war. He enjoyed golfing and taking care of his home. Jack was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 175, Authors of Curwood County, and a lifetime member of the Purple Heart Association. Jack is survived by his wife, Gloria Neeley; daughter, Rachel (Sam) Pulliam; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Kathie (Andy) Rebman; sister-in-law, Mary Nell Neeley; many nieces and nephews; best friends: Winston (Becky) Burner, Dave (Dawn) Shurter; faithful companions: Scout, Shiloh, and Kiko. He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Norman Neeley. A memorial service with full military honors will take place at 12pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11am. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to Toys for Tots.
