SWANSON, Gloria A. - Of Burton, age 85, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Homewood Village.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, February 24, 2014
at Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church, 4040 Lapeer Road, Burton,
Pastor Susan Lidums officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service and a private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church.
Visitation 4-8pm Saturday and 2-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Gloria will be at the church 11:30am Monday until the time of the service.
Gloria was born in Flint on August 14, 1928. She was a longtime and very active member of Salem Lutheran Church. She was also a member at Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church. Gloria worked for Citizen Banks for 25 years and also for Michigan Bell for 10 years.
Surviving are brother, Kenneth and wife Rose Swanson of Clinton Township;
sisters-in-law, Patricia Swanson of Flushing and Jeannine Swanson of Grand Blanc;
beloved aunt to nieces and nephews, Lynn and husband Bill Morrison of Livermore, CA, Lori and husband Steve VanHove of Flushing, Curt Swanson of Canton, MI, Brad and wife Susan Swanson of Auburn Hills, Eric and wife Laura Gann of Naples, FL, Noel and husband Danny Butler of Lansing, Scott and wife Vikki Swanson of Livermore, CA, Greg Swanson of Shelby Township, Katy and husband Paul Muller of Walnut Creek, CA, Susan and husband Carroll Dougherty of Clio, MI, Bob Swanson of Grand Blanc, Carrie Swanson of Grand Blanc;
13 great nieces and nephews;
8 great-great-nieces and nephews;
special cousins, Don and Judy Cook and Carol Morgan
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Joyce and Margaret, brothers, Gordon and Wesley “Swede”.
