ROURKE, EVELYN C.– Of Grand Blanc, age 95, died Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Courtyard.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Georges Bidzogo officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Evelyn will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass.
Evelyn Carmen Rourke was born in Flint, Michigan on October 23, 1929. Evelyn was the daughter of Stephen and Francis Wolak, the third of nine children, seven girls and two boys. She was raised in the Catholic faith, going to school at Sacred Heart Parish on the north side of Flint. Evelyn is an army veteran. Enlisting near the end of WWII. She married William Henry Rourke Jr. in 1951and has ten children.
Rory & Angie (deceased), Stephen & Margie, William III (deceased) & Sharon, Thomas & Robert, Brian & Sherry, Patricia & Peter, Patrick & LuAnn, Kathleen & Alvin , Frank, & Gayla, and John. Also her adopted family, the Nerreters. She leaves behind 23 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren.
Her life was centered on her family. She was strong, compassionate, caring, and kind. Always in motion, getting things done; making sure her extended family had what was needed and knew they were loved. Once the youngest was in school, Evelyn went to work in the Lake Fenton school cafeteria preparing delicious food and dispensing hugs and advice to many children. She then worked in the medical records in Flint Osteopathic (FOH) Hospital. She is loved and will be missed by all.
