SCHUMMER, McKenna Rae – Of Grand Blanc, age 11, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Detroit Children's Hospital of Michigan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Monsignor Jerry Vincke officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McKennassquad Beauty Bar.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. -2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
McKenna was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan on July 19, 2006, the daughter of Todd and Melissa Schummer.
McKenna was a 6th grader at Grand Blanc East Middle School.
Makeup was her passion, she loved Michigan State sports.
McKenna was an inspiration to all and her passion for makeup will live on through the McKennassquad Beauty Bar at Detroit Children’s Hospital.
Her favorite times were spent with family playing cards, board games and watching MSU sports.
She loved to hang out with her friends, swim at the neighborhood pool, play softball and basketball.
Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who cared for McKenna.
She was brave and never complained, very loving, put others first, wanted to do kind things for others.
Surviving are parents, Todd and Melissa Schummer;
sissy, Hannah;
grandparents, Richard (Bumpa) and Doreen (Mimi) Schummer, Ken (Bumpa) and Linda (Nana) Cochran;
aunts and uncles, Tim and Lisa Schummer, Tedd and Alisa Schummer, Terri Schummer, Tom and Lori Schummer, Shawn and Charlotte Cochran;
cousins, Karli, Nick, Devin, Beau, Cody, Lucas, Kyle, Connor, Cooper and Tyler;
beloved dog, Jackson.
