Donna was born on May 14th, 1932 to Harvey and Marie Stuckey of Burlington, Oklahoma. She attended a small school where she played every sport including half-court basketball. She was an accomplished pianist and played for many church and school functions in her youth. In 1952 she married Lloyd Stoddard who was stationed in the Air Force in Enid, Oklahoma. While in the service Lloyd and Donna spent 3 years in England, where she acquired a taste for tea. Upon returning to the states, they made their home in Flushing, Michigan on Lloyd’s family farm.
Donna enjoyed a long career with Flushing Community Schools, serving as the library clerk for Elms and Springview libraries. She enjoyed canning, baking, reading, giving piano lessons and watching the Pistons and Tigers play. Donna was an active member of the Order of the Easter Star in Flushing where she served as the organist. She loved music and although she could read music well, she really enjoyed hearing songs on the radio and running to her piano or organ to pick out the tune. One of her greatest joys as she got older was spending time with her cat, grandchildren, and eating hot fudge sundaes from Dairy Queen. Donna lived her final 3 years at Green Acres Retirement Facility in Greenville, Michigan, where she was welcomed and loved as family.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992.
Survivors include her brother Max Stuckey and his wife Nancy of Burlington, Oklahoma; children Steve Stoddard of Flushing, Michigan, Cheryl Granzo and husband John of Belding, Michigan; grandchildren Allison Granzo and Leah and Drew Griffioen; and one greatgrandchild Landon that she called “baby-cakes”. |
