Magryta, Joseph A. of Flushing, age 85, died Monday, July 3, 2017, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral Mass. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic Church.
Joseph was born in Bay City, Michigan on May 17, 1932, the son of Joseph and Mary (Lobodzinski) Magryta. He married Donna Rathke on September 10, 1955. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1992. He later married Irene (Kirinovic) Goosman on May 14, 1994. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2016. Joseph graduated from Bay City Central High School and later received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from GMI-Kettering. Joseph began his career at the Flint Motor Plant as the Plant Superintendent of Plant Engineering and retired in 1992 after 42 years from the Flint Engine Plant and also worked at the Saturn Division. He loved going on fishing trips with his sons and traveling the world. Joseph was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. He enjoyed reading and cooking and was a part of the Flushing Gourmet Cooking Club. As a member of St. Robert Catholic Church, he was a former choir member and also enjoyed playing the ukulele. Joseph was a general fix-it enthusiast and could often be found tinkering on projects and took pride in his gardening.
He is survived by his sons, Steven (Debbie) Magryta, Matthew Magryta, John Magryta, Robert (Maria Piotrowski) Magryta; step-children, Julie (Bruce) Pelto, Todd (Jean) Goosman; grandchildren, Rebecca (Will), Ben, Donovan, Coté, Margaux, Katie, Ava, Jack, Sydney; great-grandson, Liam; sister, Angeline Kravat; and many nieces and nephews. |
