PETERSEN, Henry Meinhard – of Burton, MI, age 91, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 2, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Ben Kirkman officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service on Monday.
He was born Henry Meinhard Petersen on the Island of Sylt, Germany in the North Sea on February 17, 1929. Henry was trained as a short wave radio repairman during the war. He married Renate Elfriede Gundlach in 1951 and they were married 68 years. They came to this country in 1952, sponsored by Henry’s uncle, Frank Hachtel. Henry and Renate spent the first year in Atlanta then moved to Flint. He was a resident of Burton for over 50 years. Henry was a hardworking, dedicated man and worked at AC Spark Plug for 35 years. He was an electrician by trade then a skilled trade supervisor for 26 years. Henry was a very talented, gifted and creative man, there was nothing he couldn’t make or fix. He was quite the perfectionist; he had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. Henry enjoyed bowling, golfing, fine woodworking and card playing with his wife and friends. He was a snowbird and drove to Bradenton, Florida for 35 years. Henry loved food, fishing and going to the casino. He will be dearly missed by all.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Diana (Timothy) Tucker; 2 grandchildren, Andrew (Pam) Tucker and Eleah (Kyle) Hoover; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Renate; son, Frank Henry Petersen and family in Germany.
