KAZA, Thomas E. – of Flint, age 83, passed away October 25, 2012 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint, MI 48506; Monsignor Charles Kaza and Rev. Fr. Santhiyagu Arockiyasamy concelebrants. Burial will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 12-8 p.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. On Tuesday, there will be visitation at the church for one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
Thomas was born, one of seventeen children, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1929, son of the late George and Mary (Kostic) Kaza. He proudly served his country with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Thomas married Elaine Dasky in 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Flint, where he remained a member. He retired as a lieutenant from the Flint Police Department in 1986 with 33 years of service. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was loved and respected by everyone he met.
Thomas is survived by his wife and best friend, Elaine; children, Mary (Mark) McDiarmid, Julie (Martin) Potter, Susan Saultman, Karen (Doug) Williams, Joe (Debbie) Kaza and Paul Kaza; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Ron) Artman and Teresa Hallquist. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony, in 1959 and grandson, Michael, in 1982.
