Monty Joe Owens, age 62, passed away at his home in St. Helen on Friday, July 12, 2019 with his family by his side. Monty was born on December 9, 1956 in Flint to Jess and Mary (Brock) Owens. He lived in St. Helen for the past 13 years, formerly of Flint, Skidway, MI and Zephyrhills, FL. On August 16, 1980 he married Janet Bassham in Flint. He was a member of the Iron Mustang Motors Cycle Club in St. Helen. He was known as nicknames "Kool-Aid" or "Mo". Monty was also a member of the Lake St. Helen Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and was an avid softball player. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Monty is survived by his loving wife, Janet Owens of St. Helen; son, Jason (Cindie) Owens of Durand; grandchildren, Skylar, Anevay, Carter, Kaylee and Conner; brother, Gary (Leslie) Owens of Clio; sister in law, Connie Yates of NE; brother in law, Dennis Wise of Clio; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry and sister, Carol Wise.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lake St. Helen Baptist Church on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
