Harold Frederick Blaine, age 65 years, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 2, 1951 to William and the late Anna (Keeven) Blaine. On August 7, 1971 he married the former Betty Marie Kelbey and she survives him. Harold was a lifelong farmer and he held various positions at Zion Lutheran Church and School. Harold was also chairman of Saginaw County FSA and chairman of Saginaw County Soil Conservation. Harold loved fishing, hunting, boating and spending time at his home in Florida and Oscoda with his family and friends.
Along with his wife Betty, Harold is survived by his four sons, three daughter-in-laws and eight grandchildren, Jeffrey H (Erin Volk) Blaine, Elizabeth, Thomas and Samantha of Rochester Hills, Brian A. (Tracy Marietta) Blaine, Meghan, Lauren and Justin of Hemlock, Mark A. Blaine of Chesaning and Eric M. (Kimberly Skornicka) Blaine, Anna and Myah of St. Charles; his father William (Ellen) Blaine; brother and sister-in-laws, Karen (Rob) Hemker, Jacquelyn (Rich) Hemker, Sandra (Jerry) Mose and Shannon Kelbey; and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Blaine; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Shirley Kelbey and a brother-in-law, Jack Kelbey.
A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 133 Commercial Dr., Chesaning on Thursday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Joel Thomford will officiate. His burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 31 from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles and again on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church or School.
