In Loving Memory of Darlene Kay Rosser or affectionately known as Gigi. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished matriarch, who left this world on March 2, 2025, at the age of 78. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Born on November 16, 1946 at the family farm in Turner, Michigan, to Katherine Lee (Petri) and Karl Fredrick Schutte (loving knowing Katie and Fritz). She graduated high school in 1964 and met the love of her life, Maurice Lea Rosser, while working as a carhop at A&W in Flint, Michigan. Lea famously serenaded her with "Pretty Woman" until she finally agreed to give him a chance. Their love story began, and exactly one year later, on July 17, 1965, they married. Together, they had two daughters, Rachelle Lea and Jennifer Lea.
Darlene started her career as a file clerk and worked her way up to Assistant Vice President of Internal Accounting at Michigan National Bank, all while raising two daughters and earning a bachelor’s in Accounting and a master’s in Banking. She held that position for 20 years before taking a job at First of America/National City, where she eventually retired as a branch manager in 2000. Her dedication to both family and career was truly remarkable, inspiring everyone with her hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.
Her heart was as big as her accomplishments, and her unwavering love for her family and her faith was the cornerstone of everything she did. Darlene had a passion for travel and quickly fell in love with Arizona, where she spent nearly 15 winters. She was a remarkable listener and the type of friend who would drop everything to lend a hand or offer a kind word. Darlene was an avid reader and a cherished member of her book club. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her friends in the widows’ group.
She enjoyed reading her bible, quilting, knitting blankets, and gardening, but above all, she cherished time with her family. A spirited competitor, Darlene loved playing board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often adding her own playful tricks and keeping everyone laughing with her infectious sense of humor. Her love for life and her family was truly unmatched.
She was the glue that held our family together, always ready with a warm hug, a delicious meal, and, of course, a shopping tip that we never knew we needed—whether we asked for it or not! (We’ll miss hearing, “You won’t believe what I found on QVC today!”) She was the kind of woman who found joy in every moment and took every opportunity to enrich the lives of others.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rachelle (Gene) Munro, Jennifer (Brett) Schiebner, her four grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Cone, Madison (Garrett) McPherson, Averi Munro, and Kaylea Munro, her great-grandchildren, Oliver Cone, Nolan, Wyatt, and Grady McPherson, brother Fred (Vivian) Schutte, best friend and niece Janie (Larry) Williamson and many other nieces, nephews, and friends who were lucky enough to experience the love and joy she so freely gave. She is predeceased by her husband, Maurice Lea Rosser, parents, sisters, Betty (Ed) Bilacic, and Joyce (Bruce) Weishuhn, nephew, Bradford Schutte, and niece Laurie Schutte.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Watkins in Perry, Michigan. Visitation hours will be on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations towards an education fund for her great-grandchildren in her honor, a cause close to her heart. Though we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will continue to guide us. Rest in peace, dear Gigi. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Your spirit will live on in each of us, in the stories we share, and the love we give. Remember, nothing loved is ever lost. |
