Rebecca (“Becky”) Lynn Lehotzky

Born: 5/5/1955
Died: 5/10/2024
Age: 69
Community: Flushing, MI

Rebecca (“Becky”) Lynn Lehotzky of Flushing passed away on May 10, 2024 at age 69 after a brief illness.

Becky was born on March 5, 1955 in Flint. She was a Girl Scout and member of 4-H who graduated from Davison High School in 1972 and majored in history at Central Michigan University. Her varied career included roles as a nursing home activity director and as an EEG technician at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Lansing - the latter motivated by her own childhood experience with epilepsy.

Her most cherished roles, however, were those of mother, grandmother (“Nana”), and aunt. As selfless as The Giving Tree, she found her deepest meaning in loving and caring for her family. She was also a prolific crafter, producing numerous boxes of hand knit baby sweaters after learning of the impending arrival of her first granddaughter.

A lifelong fan of the Michigan State Spartans, Becky would share extra Halloween candy with trick-or-treaters who arrived at her door wearing green and white. Her sense of humor, even during challenging times, inspired the creation of PJ Day, which has benefited the Lupus Foundation of America and become a nationwide fundraiser.

Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Attila Lehotzky; her children Rebecca (Daniel), Andrew (Lacey), Erica, and Joseph (Stacie); granddaughters Matilda and Eliza; several siblings including Deborah Abbott and Kathryn Anderson; niece and goddaughter, Michelle Abbott, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Becky’s generous spirit, she chose to donate her body to medical education at MSU.

The family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making memorial contributions to the Lupus Foundation of America or the American Cancer Society.
