Beverly Ann (Lakies) Fitzner, age 92, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Serene Meadows in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was born on October 29, 1931, in Flint, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Ernest and Doris (Ecklund) Lakies.
Beverly was a 1949 graduate of Flint Central High School. She received her RN diploma from Hurley School of Nursing in 1952.
On Feb. 7,1953, Beverly married Ross Fitzner in Flint, Michigan. They first resided in Greenville, Michigan, where they welcomed their daughter Gail. Later, they moved to Flint, where son Craig was born. Finally, Beverly and Ross moved to Davison, where they remained for many years.
Beverly was an avid knitter, creating beautiful afghans, and keeping everyone warm with mittens, hats, and slippers. She also enjoyed reading non-fiction and biographies. She enjoyed music very much and she played the piano. Her taste in music ranged from the Classical to Elvis to Broadway Hits. Beverly and Ross enjoyed traveling, especially to South Korea, where Ross served during the Korean War. Beverly particularly loved traveling to Mancelona, Michigan to visit her cousins. She also liked to spend time at the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula.
Beverly was preceded in death by husband Ross, her parents, and her two brothers, Arnim (Pat) and Phillip. She is survived by daughter Gail (Marvin) Frinkle of Ishpeming, Michigan, son Craig (Wendy) of DeWitt, Michigan; grandchildren: Karl (Bobbi), Andrew (MiKyung), Leigh Ann, Colin (Leanne), and Ian (Lily), and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Andrea, and Jonah. Also surviving are sister-in-law Helena Kaczynski, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special appreciation goes to Serene Meadows of Grand Blanc for taking excellent care of Beverly. The family also wants to acknowledge Absolute Hospice, especially Lois, Brandi, and Allison for their services.
In accordance with Beverly’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. Beverly’s family welcomes guests to join them for a Memorial Luncheon at the funeral home immediately following the visiting hours on Wednesday, July 10th. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider contributions in Beverly’s memory to Boys Town, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, Nebraska 68010. |
