Plumpp, Deacon Cyrus H. age-80 passed away Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday June 12, 2014 from the Detroit Church of God G-5328 Bishop L. Stewart, Sr. officiating. Internment Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10am for visitation. Deacon Plumpp will repose in the Chapel of the Martin J. Banks Funeral Home and maybe from 12noon until 8pm Wednesday. Cyrus Hamlin Plumpp, Jr. was born in Clinton, MS on September 22, 1933 to the late Cyrus Plumpp, Sr., and Catherine Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Gloria Jean Plumpp. Cyrus passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Cyrus attended Summer High school. After high school, he joined the Army. Cyrus has been married to his lovely wife Gloria Plumpp for over fifty-three years. He attended Detroit Street Church of God where he served as a deacon and he was also the church gatekeeper for many years. He worked at the Fisher Body Plant and retired from Buick City Local 599. Cyrus enjoyed cooking, fishing, watching baseball, basketball, football, and visiting the sick. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting his daughter and grandchildren and great grandchildren in North Carolina. He was a caring and loving person always willing to help those in need. Cyrus leaves to cherish his lovely wife Gloria Swanson Plumpp; five children Glen (Clara) Beal, Turner (Faye) Beal, Anthony Beal, and Ester Plumpp all of Flint, MI and Katherine, Henri Lankoande of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren Sophia (Howard) Knox and, Simone (Jalilu) Mayo all of Flint, MI, Satyra (Shawn) Sumner of Raleigh, NC, Latoya White of Memphis, TN, Shontay Johnson and Westley Lankoande both of Raleigh, NC; six great-grandchildren Erica Taylor of Flint, MI, Lakesia White of Memphis, TN, Sydney Mayo and Kennedy Mayo both of Flint, MI, Jacob and Jaden both of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Virtrill Plumpp of California City, CA, and two other special sisters Claretha Anthony, and Annie (Calvin) Sanders all of Jackson, MS; two brothers Harold Plumpp of Jackson, MS and Sterling Plumpp of Chicago, IL; one aunt Rosie Patterson of Jackson, MS, a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends Deacon W. Rosborough, Elder Davis, Thelma Williams, Oretha Cayton and Dora N. Jackson.
