William was born in Clare, Michigan April 23, 1942. He came to Flint at the young age of 17 after growing up on the farm and began working for the Fisher Body plant of Grand Blanc as a die maker. He was a member of UAW Local 1292. He went on to become a lead worker of his skilled trade which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He was a member and a former Elder of Faith Lutheran Church.
During his lifetime, he raised 3 children and taking Christine as his wife in 1986, with her 2 children, went on to create 32 years of lasting memories. He loved to spend time with them and his grandchildren whether it be traveling in his motorhome, fishing, hunting, sport shooting, camping or just hanging out for all around fun, playing games, cards and playing his guitar. William had so many God-given talents and spent his time metal working, wood working, babysitting and mentoring and he had a knack for fixing any computer.
He was our all around go-to-guy, our true MacGyver and was special in every way. To the family, he was a true genius.
He was always there in time of need to offer a helping hand or just listen and laugh and then make you laugh with a good one liner.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christine;
children, David Gibis, Cheryl (Rick) Robinson, Michael (Noelle) Gibis, Rachel (Brian) Muron and Bryce (Amanda) Herrick;
eight grandchildren, Joshua and Andrew Gibis, Stephanie Robinson, Ben and Emma Muron, Brooke and Chris Forystek, Bryce Watts and Rylee Herrick;
sister, Betty Johnson, brother, Jim (Wilma) Gibis and
nephews, Shannon Gibis, Steve (Sherie) Landon;
niece, Kathy (Denis) Grubb.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Lana, father, Joseph, sisters, Lee VanSickle and Eloise Gibis.
