HROMEK, Mary Helen -age 92, of Lennon, died October 3, 2014. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, October 7 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 4-9 PM Monday with a 7PM Vigil Service at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation Tuesday will be at 10 AM at the church. Those desiring may make contributions St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church or Residential Hospice.
Mary was born December 19, 1921 in New Lothrop, the daughter of Dominic and Julia (Dodak) Sherry. She attended Our Lady Catholic School in Chesaning. She married John Joseph Hromek Jr. on October 21, 1939; he preceded her in death on November 14, 1982. Mary was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the Friendship Club of Swartz Creek, the Friendship Club Czechoslovakian singers, and the Slovak Union of Owosso. She enjoyed ceramics, baking Czechoslovakian pastries, and Czechoslovakian music and dancing.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (David) Fitzko of Lennon; grandson, John (Stephanie) Fitzko of Lennon; granddaughter, Shelley (Ken) Huffman of Linden; two great-grandchildren, Amber Lance, Ryan Fitzko; two step-great-grandchildren, Sam and Emily Huffman; sisters, Margaret Check of Sterling Heights, Josephine Perry of Owosso; brother Steve Sherry of Owosso; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, John; grandson, David Michael Fitzko; three brothers, Joseph, Dominic, and John Sherry.
