ROSE, Shirley Joan. – of Montrose, age 83, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at her residence. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Rev. Susan Bennett Stiles officiating. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County. Shirley was born March 17, 1932 in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late Orville and Fern (Walter) Wilcox. She resided in the Flushing area her entire life. Shirley married Dean W. Rose July 19, 1974 in New Lothrop. He preceded her in death December 6, 2014. She was a bookkeeper with Blackmore-Rowe Insurance Agency in Flushing for many years. Shirley enjoyed sewing, riding motorcycles and traveling to the southern states after retirement. Surviving are: Sons: Michael (Cathy) Henry and Bryan Henry of Flushing; Step-children: Debbie (Kevin) Lincoln, Rock (Dawn) Rose, Robert Rose and Bruce Rose; Step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; Cousin, Dixie Steadman and her beloved faithful Norwegian Elkhound, Chip.
