Leeck, Rosemary A. “Rose” of Clio MI formerly from Rogers City, age 93, passed peacefully with family at her side, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at The Willows of Okemos. She will be remembered by each family member for her spitfire and loving personality. The entire family can all state what meal was their particular favorite she made with love. Rose lived life to her fullest with never letting an opportunity pass to get out of the house and always willing to GO! Because Rose just wanted to have fun!
Family and friends are welcome to join in a celebration of Rose’s life at O Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio Mi on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Following a gathering at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clio for food, drinks and sharing just the way Rose wanted it.
Rose was born on May 8, 1931 in Rogers City to Charles and Frances Derry who preceded her in death along with her husband James “Jim” Leeck. Also, brothers Frank and Thomas Derry and sister’s June Brunning, and Catherine Janeski.
Surviving; Sister Marjorie “ Pudge” Zielaskowski of Alpena, her two loving children Brad Leeck (Olga Delgado) of Lansing; Daughter Roz Leeck (Mae Zion) of Fenton; 5 grandchildren, Shanna ( Jason) Bayush, Brooke Leeck, Lyndsay Rodriguez, Lauren Williams ( Logan), and Lindsey Zion ( Jimmy McGuirk). Eight great grandchildren, Graciana, Garrett, Olivia, Gabriel Rodriguez, Lainey Bayush, Chase Leeck, Jack Williams, and Cassie Williams, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rose graduated from Roger City High school in 1949. Rose married James Leeck “Jim” on September 16th, 1950 in Rogers City. They enjoyed 64 years together before Jim’s passing. Mrs. Leeck retired from AC Spark Plug where she had worked for fifteen years. Her and Jim also owned M-54 bar on Dory Highway Clio. Together they also built from ground up eight homes and remodeled several more. Rose also was a member of the Clio F.O.E. #3609 where she enjoyed friends and playing her pull-tabs. Rose enjoyed playing Bingo with friends at the Willows and most of all picking out her winnings of gifts she could give to her grandchildren Cassie and Jack. Rose also enjoyed going to the casinos, baking apple pies from her own apple orchard, and hunting with her husband Jim on their 40 acres in Alpena. Rose was a person who was always on go. She enjoyed the company of friends and above all spending time with her daughter and son. and grandchildren.
A special thank-you to all of the staff, and Rose’s friends at The Willows of Okemos for their care, visits, and beautiful ceremony upon her exit.
In lieu of flowers, family would like more trees planted preferable an apple tree in Rose’s memory. |
