NIVER, Irene E. – Of Winter Garden, Florida, formerly of Flint, age 86, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Regency on the Lake.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Mr. Russell R. Thomas officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Irene was born in Flint, Michigan on September 5, 1927, daughter of the late Manson and Gladys (Bebee) Atkins.
On December 17, 1944 she married Donald Niver in Flint and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1994.
She loved gardening and working with her house plants and flower arranging.
Irene and Donald both worked for Disney World while living in Florida for over 15 years. They were members of Orange County Church of Christ in Florida.
Surviving are son, Gary Niver;
daughter, Pam (Tom) Hendricks;
11 grandchildren;
23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren;
sister, Shirley Brasseur;
brother, Maynard (Nell) Atkins;
many nieces and nephews.
