Ed was born in Windber, Pennsylvania, on August 8, 1941, the son of the late John and Josephine (Wozniak) Vedock.

Ed graduated from Windber High School class of 1959 and then went on to college in Michigan where he graduated from GMI (General Motors Institute) with an Industrial Engineering degree. While at GMI he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He later received a Master’s degree in Engineering from The University of Michigan in 1977.
On September 12,1964 he married Joan Ploucha at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint. They spent just shy of creating 60 years of a beautiful life together.

Ed was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the President/Secretary of the Dirty Dozen bowling league, the past President and lifetime member of Dom Polski, a 20 year member of the Eagles and a honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He also played blooperball and softball (Wagon Wheel) in the Flint area for many years.
Ed retired from General Motors after 42 years of service. In retirement, Ed kept busy with his wife Joan. They would travel to casinos, Brimley being their favorite, and their weekly lunch outings; Wednesdays at Timothy’s Pub, stops up to Dom Polksi on Fridays, then to Remington’s on Saturdays, and finally Sunday dinner usually took them to the White Horse. Ed was an honorary St. Mikes class of 1960 where he helped Joan and her classmates yearly get togethers. He loved “putzing” around outside keeping his yard in tip top shape. He always looked forward to his yearly trip to Pikefest, his cooking duties and his late night poker games as well as his trip with Joan and the crew up to Secord Lake for the “geriatric” weekend.
Ed was a Head / assistant coach for various GFHA, EMHA, and Powers Catholic High hockey teams, he also coached 7th and 8th grade girl softball teams at Holy Redeemer Catholic school.

Ed took lots of pride in his grandchildren. Traveling across the state to support them in all their school and sporting events, cheering them on and being so proud. You could always find him in the stands watching Luke’s football games, wrestling meets, or baseball games. He would even pack his bags and head to Virginia Beach for a wrestling tournament, or to a baseball tournament in Cooperstown, and many other states! If it was for his grandkids, he was there. He would also head to the rink to watch Tony coach his grandsons play hockey.

Left to cherish his memory:
his brother John (Lois) Vedock of Reading, PA,
Son - Tony (Cyndi) Vedock - Grandchild Mikalene – Great grandkids, Nathan, Beau & Evelyn.
Daughter - Julie (Bob) Stanton of Brighton, MI – Grandchildren Paige, Luke & Brooke.
Brother-in-law John (Mary Ann) Ploucha, Sister-in-laws Anne Ploucha, Evelyn Ploucha; several nieces and nephews and many loved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents John and Josephine, infant brother Eugene, brothers-in-law Raymond & James Ploucha, Mike Kassem, and sister-in-law Mary Kassem.
Ed’s personality was infectious, and he left a permanent and lasting mark with all who knew and loved him. His smile was contagious and he had a grin that left a lasting impression.
