ROSSIO, James Sebastian, age 74, of Flint, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Born on January 11, 1950, raised in Royal Oak, MI, Jim was a master golfer and a passionate hockey fan, who also had a deep love for the Spartans and classic cars. Jim dedicated over 40 years to the teaching profession, inspiring and shaping the lives of countless students. His vibrant personality and love of a good laugh brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved children, Maria (Josh) Dodak and Vince Rossio; his cherished grandchildren, Conrad, Anna, and Lee; his siblings, Gary (Beverly) Rossio, Christine (Larry) Driver, Kathleen (Kevin) Walby, and Patricia (David) Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 12-8 pm, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. James will be at church 9. a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 19, 2024 at 10 am, at St. Matthew’s Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
A private burial will take place Tuesday at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Detroit Children’s Hospital in Jim’s memory.
To know Jim, Jimmy, Rosie, Uncle Jim “Cool Guy”, or Mr. Rossio, was to love him. His smile and sense of humor were infectious and he will be deeply missed.
