Donald R. Beutler of Flushing, age 87, died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 29, 2018, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Rossell Funeral Home Pastor Steve Close officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Donald was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on December 14, 1930, the son of Ralph and Gladys (Peterson) Beutler. He grew up in North Dakota and later moved to Flint where he graduated from Flint Carman High School in 1947. Donald married Joyce Gibbs in Flint on May 29th 1958. They shared 54 years of marriage and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2012. He loved his wife, his family and was a great provider. He worked for Consumers Power for 35 years, before retiring in 1988. Together, Donald and Joyce raised 3 children and taught them many valuable life skills. Donald listened and encouraged and was always there to help. They enjoyed traveling and camping, especially at Holiday Shores where they were longtime residents.
Donald is survived by his children, Edward and wife Brenda Beutler. Shari and husband Chuck Kelly, Scott and wife Renea Beutler; three grandchildren, Shane Kelly, Brent Beutler, Emily and husband TJ Stephens and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Kelly and sister, Beverly.
