Edward James Shannon, age 62, of Swartz Creek, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Edward was born in Flint, Michigan to the late James and Daisy (Spencer) Shannon. He was an avid fan of lapidary and collecting all types of stones, and he also loved geology. Over the years, he accumulated quite the collection of stones of various shapes and sizes. Some of Edward's other hobbies included working on cars and shooting. He was very knowledgeable in history, and was always wanting to learn more. When it came to organizing his documents or information, he was meticulous in how well he kept records. He was also a lifetime member of the Davison VFW Post. Edward dedicated his life to his country by serving in the United States Navy, Air National Guard and the Army National Guard, and was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
Edward leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of twenty-four years, Charlotte; son Edward Shannon II and his children Angela Elizabeth and Austin James; daughter Katharine Shannon and her children Michael Patrick, Dameon Ryan and Tiernan Daithi; daughter Sarah Kabree (Allen) McMillan and their children Isaac Matthew and Bree Abigail; and son Steven Thomas (Katlin) Steele and their children Aarin James, Ellie Marie and a baby on the way.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
A visitation for Edward will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM officiated by Pastor Marvin Downs.
