STEARNS, Creal Eugene “Gene” - of Davison, MI, age 77, went to be with God on Friday, May 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 and 12-1 PM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home.
Gene was born in Flint, MI on June 20, 1939, son of the late Cyrus and Dorothy (Russell) Stearns. Gene proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He married Kay Kennedy on July 24, 1959 and she preceded him in death on December 24, 2008. Gene retired from Buick. He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering and spending time with his family. Gene spent decades of his life dedicated to AA, helping and supporting those in need. He always spoke his mind, but he had a kind heart and would lend a hand to anyone in need. Gene never left home without his beloved cowboy hat.
Gene is survived by 3 children, Ronald (Mary) Stearns, Ronda (Jeremiah) George and Tina (Doug) Faris; 7 grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Stearns, Jeremy (Abby) Stearns, Nicole (Scott) Heath, Corey (Sarah) Ratza, Kyle Ratza, Jessica (Joe) Owczarski and Kaily Faris; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Everly Stearns, Jaxson Stearns, Annabel and Christian Heath and soon to be born, Kennedy Owczarski; 3 siblings, Kenneth Stearns, Barbara Lane, Kay (Phil) Church; many other loving family members and friends.
