Dave is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Janice (Farrow) Buswell. The couple met on May 24, 1964, and were married on December 15, 1965. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Dave is also survived by their three children: David Michael (Kelly) Buswell, Kimberly Marie (Jeffery) Haring, and Brian Scott (Jennifer) Buswell. He was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren: Lauren (Philip) Martyn, Lyndsay (Brenan) Hudgens, Carley (James) Koch, Jonathan Buswell, Haley (Lewis) Jones, Samantha Buswell, Jarrod (Emma) Buswell, Brandon Buswell, Macy Lord, Alexa Buswell and two step-grandchildren, Brendon and Maddison Haring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marilyn (Wright) Buswell, and his beloved sister, Sharen Metzger.
Dave’s educational journey took him through Central and Northern High School, where he developed a passion for learning and a strong work ethic. He was a management partner and technician at Downtown Shell in Flint then, spent most of his career as an auto service technician and shop foreman at Ron Slivka Buick. Dave earned his Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications as a Master Automotive Technician in the early 1980’s and was one of the earliest to accomplish this ASE Master status in Michigan, a proud achievement that served him well throughout his career and inspired his sons to similar accomplishments in the field. His favorite job was at Sycron Corporation where he enjoyed automotive testing and building Cobra kit cars until he retired in 2002.
Dave loved the outdoors and spent much of his life enjoying activities that connected him with nature. He loved boating, waterskiing, and snowmobiling, and enjoyed annual hunting trips with family and friends. He found joy in building and maintaining race cars with his sons, who are thankful for that time with him, both in his garage and at the track. He supported his sons in racing as a labor of love. He also spent many hours working on and cruising his cars on the weekends, especially his beloved 1967 Corvette. Dave was also an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.
Above all, Dave was a family man who cherished every moment with his loved ones. He took great pride in his children, and nothing made him happier than camping trips with his family up north, where many fond memories were made. Dave’s sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered.
