Born April 4, 1951, in Alice, Texas, to Marcelo Flores Sr. and Manuela Garcia Flores, Hector was the youngest of eight children. Raised with a foundation of hard work, education, and family, he spent summers helping in Michigan’s migrant fields. After graduating from William Adams High School in 1969, Hector moved to Flint, Michigan, where he began his career at General Motors while pursuing an education degree at the University of Michigan-Flint. He later balanced two full-time jobs, teaching in the Flint school system and working at GM, demonstrating a tireless work ethic for 15 years.
Hector and his wife Patricia raised four children, instilling in them the values of education, respect, and hard work, which they now pass on to their own children. As a devoted grandfather, he cherished time with his 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, attending countless milestones and often arriving in his beloved RV.
In his later years, Hector found companionship with Janie Mendoza Loera, who brought him joy and love until his final days. His warmth, wisdom, and love for family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Hector leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering support. He will be deeply missed, but forever loved.
Hector leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Alice Michelle Flores and Minerva Flores; sons Hector (Heather) Flores, Jr., and Marcelo Flores III; grandchildren Marisa (Nick) Torelli, Victora (John) Clark, Lauren Willey, Enrique Porritt, Helen Flores, Lily Flores, Hector Flores III, Ivy Flores, Leo Flores and Marcelo Flores IV; great grandchildren Vivian Clark, Maverick Torelli and Baby boy Clark; sisters, Minerva (Minnie) Langoni, Nelda Garcia and Elia (Rey) Hinojosa; brothers, Marcelo Flores Jr., Oscar Flores and many nieces and nephews.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents Marcelo and Manuela Flores, Sr., sisters Idalia Montemayor and Yolanda Flores.
A memorial visitation for Hector will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home - 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Hector will be inurned in his birthplace of Alice, Texas, at a later date and time.s the
