Leon Snyder, age 89, eldest son to John & Rosina (Wieber) Snyder passed away November 18, 2017.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11am Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Monday from 6pm to 8pm and Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm with a rosary prayed at 7pm.
He attended St. Paul Catholic School, was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Owosso and the Knights of Columbus.
He married Margaret Schrems on September 27, 1950, and she predeceased him in 1979. He married Jacklyn Sheldon Klabak on June 15, 1996.
Leon was a hard worker and a great provider. He was proud to have been raised on the Snyder dairy farm in Owosso. He retired from the Owosso Post Office as a letter carrier after 39 years. He worked full time at both the Post Office and Midland Ross for 18 of those years. Always thinking of others, he was a life long blood donor. He enjoyed nice cars, motorcycle rides, dancing, as well as playing the banjo, bass guitar and keyboard. He was a gentle man and always had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Jacklyn, his 11 children: Robert (Bonni) Snyder of Ludington; Margie (Frank) LoCurto of Boca Raton, FL; Leon (Judy) Snyder of Ovid; Ann Fisher of Owosso; Richard (Monica) Snyder of Owosso; Ginny (Gary) Bohac of Owosso; Michael (Mary) Snyder of Owosso; Mary (Jim) Wardwell of Knoxville, TN; Jeanette (Art Thiel) Moore of Oakley; Sue (Mark) Stechschulte of Owosso; Connie (David) Dunn of Owosso; and stepson Marc (Stacy) Klabak of Durand.
Survived by 20 of his grandchildren: Jennifer Snyder, Lori Snyder, Joe LoCurto, Tom Snyder, Karen (Ray) Jasicki, Donna Kanan, John (Kristin) Atkinson, Emily (Vic) Haase, Sarah Snyder, Joe (Mackenzie) Snyder, Nicholas (Erin) Bohac, Kimberly (Brian) Alpert, Jacob Snyder, Stephanie (Jake) Hughes, Kristine (Brad) Albert, Jeff (Raeann Berkompas) Moore, Ryan Stechschulte, Alex Stechschulte, Brooke Stechschulte, Matthew Klabak and 18 great grandchildren.
Survived by his siblings:Marilyn Ritter, Rosemary Grover, Gerald (Dorothy) Snyder, John (Jane) Snyder, Raynold (Lorraine) Snyder, brother-in-laws/sister-in-laws: Pauline (Bill) Mulders, Catherine Wirtz, Ray Sohn, Beth Richey, and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his grandson Daniel Snyder, son-in-law Curt Fisher, and his siblings: Robert Snyder, Jerome Snyder, Kenneth Snyder, Arlene (Tom) Chlebina, Thelma Sohn, Wilma (Lynn) Berndt, brother-in-laws/sister-in-laws: Charles Kovacs, Karl Ritter, Kathy Snyder, Ken Grover, Mary (Buddy) Jansen, Bill Wirtz, Dick Sheldon, and Bob Richey.
