Ford, Vera age 77 passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrence, GA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Family Worship Center, Pastor Timothy R. Stokes officiating. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken pace. Vera was born on July 21, 1933 in Hope Arkansas, the daughter of Rosie Hill and Paris Armstrong. She was raised by “special Parents” Bishop, Louis (Prudie) Dixon. She was a 1953 graduate of DuSable High School in Chicago, ILL. She first came to know Christ at her father’s church, “Church of the Living God Temple (120)”, where she sang in a group with her twin sister (Valeria) called the “Dixon Specials”. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and reading her bible. Vera loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grand children, She loved the Lord and is now present with him.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Tamra (Tommie) Pink, sons, Tracy (Debra) Frank and Joseph Ford Jr. and daughter she raised, Laveda (Andre) Ogburn (6) grandchildren; Jeremy, Oliver (Trey), Heather, Angel, Shannon and Joseph. A loving granddaughter, Linda Khonmanivong, (2) very special great grandchildren: Skyleigh, Saleenia, and a host of other great grand children; sisters: (Twin) Valeria Gilbert, Verna (Frank) Harden, Rosemary (Joe) Porter; brothers: Paris (Betty) Armstrong and Darnell Hopson. Three special sisters Brenda, Lillian, and Shirley and special brother Kenny. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
Loving and caring for her are (2) special nieces; Kathy Edwards and Tonya Clark, very special daughters; Pat Brooks and Sharon Burnett. Devoted family and friends Mary, Monica, Abigal, Ed, Billie and Oliver Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Sam Williams and a very special brother-in-law, Lones Gilbert Sr. The family wishes to thank Dr. Prim, Dr. Saeed, Dr. Sacker and the Gwinett Hospital staff.
