DUBE, MARLENE D.– Of Swartz Creek, age 80, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jim E. Nelson officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the family in honor of her love for education. They will be donating to a public education program.
Visitation 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the funeral home.
Marlene was born in Toronto Ontario, Canada on October 6, 1943, the daughter of Frederick and Irene (Finch) Thompson.
She was a graduate of Beecher Community School, Class of 1961.
On September 16, 1977 she married Gene Dube in Mt. Morris.
She loved playing cards and board games, she was an amazing Euchre partner for many, her love for Elvis was unconditional and everyone knew it. She enjoyed concerts and listening to music. Long drives and picnics with her late husband were the perfect days for her. In her later years, she most enjoyed spending time with her grandson Jaxon and learning all she could about the sports he loved.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Swartz Creek.
Marlene worked for Flint School Head Start Program as a teacher.
Surviving are children, Melissa (Craig) Castle,
Mandie (Fred) Zerka,
Tony (Krys) Dube,
Shelly (Curt) Stubbs,
Raymond Dube and
Kim Dube;
grandchildren, Damian, William, Heather, Nathan, Amanda, Michaela, Cory, Cody, Crystale, Casy, Mirandah, Anthony and Jaxon;
many great-grandchildren;
brother-in-law, Ronnie and Diane Dube;
several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful ladies and gentlemen at Mari Dan Senior Apartment Complex, you gave her life a new spark after losing her husband. For 2 years you were her second family and she loved you all. Thank you for loving her and joining her in all her game playing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene.
