BOWMAN, Lester Edgar of Grand Blanc age 69 died Friday May 13, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday May 17, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison. Fr. Carl Simons officiating. Private burial in St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. A scripture service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday evening. Those desiring may make contributions in Lester’s memory to the American Lung Association or charity of choice. Mr. Bowman will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am Tuesday until time of services. Lester was born in Flint Michigan June 2, 1941 the son of the late: Hugh & Evelyn (Moore) Bowman and has resided in the Grand Blanc area the last thirty years. He was joined in marriage to Josephine Schaeffer on October 16, 1965 at St. John Catholic Church, Davison. Lester was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Davison. He was truly a family man and enjoyed numerous family events, his love of the outdoors and was enhanced by his love of fishing, hunting and time at the family cottage at Houghton Lake. Lester also enjoyed his casino trips with family and friends. He had been employed by General Motors Truck & Bus division for thirty-five years retiring in 2001. Surviving are wife, Josephine “Jo”, daughter Tammy & husband Al Herrington, son Dan Bowman, grandchildren, Ryan, Tara, Tori and Reece Herrington, and Austin Bowman. Brothers: Robert Palmateer, Randy Bowman, and a host of other relatives. He is preceded in death by brothers, Fred Palmateer, Floyd Palmateer, and Arthur Bowman, His father-in –law and mother –in-law; Harry & Josephine Schaeffer.
