McFARLANE, Robert D. – of Clio, age 86, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 11, 2013 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Roger Gedcke officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-9 pm. Contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Robert was born on August 24, 1927 in Flint to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Larson) McFarlane. He served in the U.S. Army. Robert married Jane Thomas on July 23, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Swartz Creek. He retired in 1983 from GM Fisher Body #1 after 35 years of service. Bob was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church the Mt. Morris Masonic Temple #535. He enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and spending time with his family.

Surviving are: wife, Jane; children, Delynne (Jack) Parth of Clio, Dianne (John) Baggett of Columbiaville, Brian (Velda) McFarlane of Streamwood, IL, Blair (Nancy) McFarlane of LaSalle; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason), Craig (Angela), Alan (Trish), Michelle (Jim), Jess (Greg), Andrea, Zachary, Kaitlyn; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Fox of Clio; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Pete & Betty Thomas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: granddaughter, Melissa Parth; brother, John McFarlane; sister, Catherine Ostrom. Special thank you to the staff at McLaren Hospital.
