MARQUAND, Barbara Ruth – of Flint, age 83, passed away November 2, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, November 7, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday.

Barbara was born in Flint, MI on December 1, 1932, daughter of the late John and Ruth (Watson) Robbins. She married James E. Marquand on June 16, 1951 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Flint and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2014. Barbara worked for 15 years at Sears Roebuck retiring in 1992. Born into a very artistic and musically talented family, Barbara had a great passion for music belonging to many women’s choruses in the Flint area. She was most proud of her affiliation with the Calvary Presbyterian Church Choir. Equally as important to her was her faith in God. She also enjoyed gardening, many times sharing her perennials with others. Barbara was a fantastic cook and baker. Her greatest passion was for her family. Her children and grandchildren will forever remember her with great love and admiration.

Barbara is survived by her children, Susan (Keith) Bemiss, Judy Chizmadia, Thomas Marquand; grandchildren, Jaie and Nicholas Bemiss, Kathryn Chizmadia, Jonathan Chizmadia; great-granddaughter, Eva Cooper; sister, Margaret Freeman. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Charles and Frank Robbins; sister, Martha Herzog.
