Venable, Douglas Dewey of Bath, formerly of Flushing, age 87, died Saturday, July 20, 2024, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Douglas was born on June 21, 1937, one of seven children and last surviving child born to Admiral and Rilla Venable. He graduated from Utley High School and GMI. He married Betty Lou Bradford on December 15, 1956, in Flint and spent 67 years together in marriage. Douglas was a hard worker. He was a dedicated employee to his job at General Motors for over 30 years, and the Corunna Road Auto Parts Store. Together with his wife and family, they enjoyed spending time at their homes on Houghton Lake where he loved to fish. Douglas also enjoyed spending time in Las Vegas and watching his favorite show Cops. His family believes he missed his true calling of becoming a police officer.
Douglas is survived by his; children, Kevin and wife Tonya Venable, Luann and husband Anthony Shulick; grandchildren, Kevin, II and wife Mechelle Venable, Kristin and husband Jason Roover; great-grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Laney, Lydia, Pamela, Brooke, Hunter and special great-granddaughter, Madyson; and great-great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Danny. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters and his beloved wife Betty Lou. |
