WHITEHEAD, Gary Stewart – of Burton, age 84, passed away March 27, 2018 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Service will be held 10 AM March 31, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Duane Sweet officiating. Burial will be in Briley Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5-8 PM. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesee Independent Baptist Church.
Gary was born in Atlanta, MI on December 29, 1933, son of the late Waldo and Helen (Stewart) Whitehead. He married Anne Layton on September 3, 1987 on Mackinac Island. Gary attended Genesee Independent Baptist Church. He was a Private Pilot, flying since the age of 14. Playing the saxophone, Gary became an accomplished musician. He retired from Buick in the Administrative Office after 40 years. Gary enjoyed spending time in the woods hunting and on the water fishing and boating. He loved Tiger baseball, hockey, going up north and working in the yard.
Gary is survived by his wife, Anne Redmond-Whitehead; children, Margaret (Paul) Hopper-Albrecht, David (Debbe)Whitehead, Trinka Whitehead (John Bettes), Steve (Lisa) Whitehead, Chuck (Melissa) Redmond and Melanie (Mike) Wilson; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Maybie; many special nephews, nieces and friends.
