WAMSLEY, Doris Olga – Age 93, died Monday, September 21, 2020 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Pastor Mark Pretznow officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 2-8pm Sunday, 2-8pm Monday and 12pm Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Doris was born in Bridgeport, Michigan on January 13, 1927, the daughter of Otto and Florence (Hecht) Schluckebier. She married Carl Wamsley on December 1, 1945 in Flint and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1998. Doris was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she served on the Board and participated in the AAL Coffee Hour. She was a member of the Flint Neighborhood Coalition, T.A.N., Old Eastside Neighbors, 3rd District Democrat Club, Eastside Business Association and the Lewis Bennett Neighborhood Association. Doris was a Board member of the Potter and Eastside Crime Watch, a Cub Scout leader and played Euchre at the UAW Local 598 ballpark.
Surviving are sons, Richard and wife Angie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Clifford and wife Debbie of North Port, Florida, Ivan and wife Kay of Abilene, Texas, and David and wife Terri of Lapeer;
many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren;
special cousin, Marilyn Hetzner of Saginaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, sons Alvin and Harold, and daughter Linda D. Smith.
