POPILEK, Dennis Leon – of Chesaning, MI, age 67, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Wayne Shidler officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-8 PM Thursday, January 17, 2019 and 11 AM-12 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations will support the Rogel Cancer Center Fund. Checks may be made to “University of Michigan” and sent to Medical Development, 1000 Oakbrook, Suite 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Dennis was born in Flint, MI on January 22, 1951, son of the late Leon and Betty (Avery) Popilek. He married Barbara Petrella on April 2, 1982. Dennis was employed with General Motors and held many responsibilities including machine repair, alternate committeeman, ergonomics and Union Steward for Union Local #599. He was a coach for the Special Olympics Area 13 and Area 7 and was a member of the Midstatesmen Barbershop Chorus. Dennis also enjoyed hunting, fishing and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara; 5 children, C.J. (Melanie) Richardson, Deb (Amanda) Popilek, Kim (Matt) Gulick, Greg (Sherri) Popilek and Kevin Richardson; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Ronald (Sally) Popilek, Alan (Kris) Popilek, Robert (Cindy) Popilek and Cynthia (Randy) Childers; many other loving family members and friends.
