John P. Austin, age 78 of Corunna, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the
Meadows of Owosso.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at
Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
Pastor Janet Larner will be officiating with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery,
Owosso.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-8 p.m.
John was born on February 23, 1938 in Corunna to the late Theodore C. and
Virginia A. (Prout) Austin.
He attended Corunna High School, graduating in 1957.
On, May 17, 1958, John married Constance Kay Griffus in Owosso and together
they raised 2 sons.
Connie later passed on February 13, 2013.
Before his retirement, John had owned and operated Austin Electric Motors for 45
years.
He was a member of the Corunna United Methodist Church where he was an active
volunteer and a member of the Men's group there as well.
He was also a commissioner on the Corunna Historical Village where he gave
much of his time.
Mr. Austin is survived by his 2 sons: Scott (Lorrie) Austin of Linden, Roger Austin
of Corunna; 2 grandchildren: Fauna (Dave) Egle and Albert Widing, III; 2 great
grandchildren: Nicholas and Madelin Egle; sister, Patricia Hickmott; 2 brothers:
Theodore (Carol) Austin and Robert (Sabra) Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Connie and his sister, Ellen Jensen.
Memorial contributions given in Mr. Austin's name are suggested to the Corunna
Historical Village or the Corunna United Methodist Church.
